Have you discovered a fogged LED headlight on your integrated Carado motorhome and are now wondering what to do?
The good news first - moisture in the LED headlight is usually not a problem or even dangerous and disappears by itself when temperatures warm up or the light is switched on.
But why does water collect in the headlight in the first place?
Modern lighting systems are not sealed airtight to ensure ventilation and pressure equalisation. This means that an exchange from the ambient air takes place here - even if this air is particularly dry or humid. Moisture can therefore penetrate the inside of the headlight during the air exchange process - especially when outdoor temperatures fluctuate greatly.
Now, due to the large surface area and the resulting temperature difference, the moisture condenses on the diffusing disc and becomes visible.
This condensation in your headlight is harmless, the moisture has no effect on the functionality of the headlight. You do not need to do anything else here. A constant exchange of air automatically transports this moisture out again when temperatures rise or the light is switched on.
The ADAC also provides information on this: Misted-up headlights are generally not a defect and are a very well-known phenomenon that can usually be rectified without intervention.
However, if you notice an unusually large accumulation of water in your headlight, please check the headlight for any leaks, such as cracks in the glass or in the rubber seal. If you have any questions, please contact your dealer.
