Make a note of the installation date on the cartridge. From this date, the cartridge can be used for a maximum of six months or one season and a maximum of 5,000 litres. Changes in flavour (e.g. chlorine) or turbidity in the water are also indicators that the cartridge needs to be replaced. The water pressure will also decrease noticeably after the permitted filter capacity.
