How do I clean the water system in my Carado vehicle? – Frequently asked Questions

Regular cleaning of the water system in your Carado vehicle is important to ensure the cleanliness of the fresh water and to prevent bacterial growth.

Why should the water system in your vehicle be cleaned regularly?

Fresh water tanks, hoses and taps that are not cleaned regularly provide an ideal breeding ground for bacteria. Regular cleaning helps prevent the formation of biofilm, which can accumulate on the walls of fresh water and waste water tanks as well as inside hoses.

How often should you clean the water system?

You should thoroughly clean the entire water system at least once a year.

It is best to clean your vehicle's waste water tank after every use or trip, as waste water (grey water) collects in it and food residues and other deposits may cause biofilm to form more quickly.

How do you clean the water system?

1. Clean the water tank

Empty the water tank and close the drain opening
Remove the water tank cap and fill the water tank with water and a little detergent
You can now clean the water tank with a standard dishwashing brush until there is no visible residue
Clean the pump housing as well
Clean the fresh water probes by hand (if possible) through the cleaning opening
Then sink the water tank with plenty of drinking water

If cleaning as described above is not possible due to the design of the water tank, you can also clean the water tank with chemical cleaning agents. Please follow the cleaning agent manufacturer's instructions for use.

2. Cleaning water pipes

Please empty the water system
Close all drain openings and drain valves
Then fill the water/detergent mixture into the water tank.
Please follow the manufacturer's instructions for the correct mixing ratio
Open the drain valves individually and leave them open long enough for the water/detergent mixture to reach the respective outlet
Close the drain valve again and set all taps to "Warm" and open them
Leave the taps open until the mixture of water and detergent reaches the outlet
Set all taps to "cold" and open them
Leave the taps open until the mixture of water and detergent reaches the outlet
Then close the taps
Flush the toilet several times
Allow the cleaning agent to take effect according to the instructions
Now empty the water system
Please dispose of the water-cleaning agent mixture properly
Now sink the entire water system several times with drinking water. To do this, fill and empty the water system several times

3. Disinfect the water system

Please disinfect the water system in the same way as described in 2. Cleaning water pipes. Use the disinfectant as indicated on the cleaning agent manufacturer's instructions for use.

4. Cleaning the waste water tank

Empty the waste water tank and dispose of the waste water properly
Open the cleaning opening on the waste water tank and the drain valve
Sink the waste water tank thoroughly with water
If possible, clean the waste water probes by hand through the cleaning opening
