Downrating is the opposite of uprating: The maximum permissible laden weight or individual axle loads are reduced.

- Vehicles with a lower laden weight often benefit from more favourable toll or tax arrangements.
- You must comply with the legal requirements in your country.

Please note:
- Any change to the laden weight must be recorded in the vehicle documents; you must have this entered by the relevant vehicle registration authority.
- Technical modifications to the vehicle are usually not necessary.
